Latitude on the River, Florida
Latitude on the River is a redevelopment project along
the Miami River as part of the riverfront revitalization
in downtown Miami. The 2.2 acre site was a former
shipyard. The Arquitectonica-designed residences and office tower consists of 455 residences, 225,000 square feet of office space and 20,000 square feet of retail space.
Coastal Systems designed and permitted the waterfront
bulkhead improvements which included approximately 300 feet of steel sheet piling. The sheet piling was designed to enclose the existing shipyard basin for filling creating additional real estate for the upland project. To account for the proposed maintenance dredging of the Miami River, a concrete pilesupported platform was designed adjacent to the bridge.
Environmental resource permits for the waterfront and basin filling were obtained from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and Miami-Dade County DERM.
Civil engineering services were also provided including site
paving, grading and stormwater management improvements.
Drainage design consisted of a combination of exfiltration
trenches, injection wells and outfalls. Design of water main
service connection that included jack/bore underneath existing road for service connection as coordinated with WASD. Design of sanitary sewer collection on site along with service connection on adjacent Right-of-Way. The drainage system was designed to meet County, SFWMD and Florida Department of Transportation criteria. National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System processing was also provided.
